annecto’s Himanshu Singh was a runner up for the the Individual Distinction Award at the 2016 Hesta Aged Care Awards, announced in Canberra on Thursday (3 August) night.
The winner of the Individual Distinction Award went to Camille Koch of Macedon Ranges Health – Gisborne Oaks Residential Aged Care. We congratulate Camille and all the other finalists in the 2016 Hesta Aged Care Awards.
“We nominated Himanshu for an Individual Distinction Award in the Hesta Aged Care Awards because of his work with a range of older Australians from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Western Sydney,” Explains annecto Chief Executive Officer, Estelle Fyffe.
Through his work, Himanshu has improved the outcomes for many older Australians by building strong relationships, identifying needs and facilitating connections between people and community.
“Himanshu began working at annecto as a young unpaid volunteer, six years ago,” said Ms Fyffe.
“It was obvious to us that Himanshu’s commitment and passion for helping others would result in very positive outcomes for our clients.”
Now the Practice Leader at annecto’s Sydney office, Himanshu is a resourceful and creative person who believes it’s every person’s right to feel comfortable and safe in their own home, and receive support that is culturally and linguistically appropriate, and lives this out through his work.
Himanshu’s long-standing and genuine relationship with the members of the Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is an example of improved outcomes for this group of people. KBHAC members are predominantly survivors of a home called Kinchela Boys Home where children from the stolen generation were placed. This group of people suffered significant trauma as children and continue to live with the legacy of their experiences, today.
“Himanshu has invested greatly in this group and goes above and beyond to maintain the relationships. He makes himself available to KBHAC members and works through barriers to ensure they receive the care and support they need,” explains Estelle.
