Podcasts take Speakers Bank to a Wider Audience

Podcast Speakerbank

Speakers Bank is an annecto program comprising 30 people with a personal experience of disability and ageing, all of whom are trained in public speaking. They share with the community the stories of their lives, their challenges and triumphs. Speakers present a positive image of disability and older people to the public, and have presented to over 20 groups in the past year.

As a way to engage with a wider audience, Speakers Bank Coordinator, Mimi Laurilla has launched a video podcast, “Our Voices, Our Views”. Three Speakers Bank members – Storm Robbins, Nathan Slachter and Kathryn Tomkins – will host discussions on a range topics in the monthly podcast. Upcoming episodes include special features on relationships and stereotypes, and the team will also be interviewing guests in future episodes. Mimi is supporting the podcast hosts with video production.

The launch edition of the podcast was recorded at the VALID “Having Your Say” Conference in Geelong. Click here to watch the podcast.
