In August 2016 annecto participated in the international conference for the World’s Peak Body on research into Intellectual and Developmental Disability- IASSIDD 2016, Melbourne. Our presentation focused on contemporary practices in supporting people with an intellectual or developmental disability and annencto presented information on evidence based outcomes and the methodology behind the work of the organisation.

annecto CEO Estelle Fyffe highlights the need to base the development of services and supports on evidence across four areas including individual, organisational, community and population.

“The work we do at annecto is to gather data from an individual level based on wellbeing indicators right through to geographic levels of population where we look at the broader community, the development of cities and how this impacts on those at an individual level.  This information is valuable in being informed about what influences impact on the ability of people to experience social inclusion.”

Estelle says the conference was a great opportunity to share some of the information annecto works with in developing supports.

“annecto has participated in many research programmes across relevant studies in this field. It is part of the fabric of who we are as an organisation to share information and partner with others to improve outcomes.”

A delegation of international IASSIDD members visited annecto Yarraville, meeting representatives of the Client Council, hearing from people with an intellectual disability about their achievements and some of the challenges in achieving personal goals.
