What is EARS?

EARS is an Annecto program that provides free non-medical after-hours telephone support for people living with a disability, older people, their carers, and also family and friends.

EARS after-hours telephone support is for individuals who aren’t receiving support through community services and support packages are living in Victoria, across Metropolitan Melbourne and the Grampians region

We know life doesn’t stop after 5 pm so our team is available every day of the year, and even on public holidays so you can get support when you need it most.

What support is available?

We can support you with organising in-home personal support and respite care at short notice.

You’ll be referred to any relevant support agencies or assistance programs that you may need.

Our team can assist you with any other urgent non-medical enquiries and more.

Who can get free after-hours support with EARS?

Grampians region, Victoria

EARS telephone support is available to any of the following people in the Grampians region:
 
  • Older people 
  • All carers (including carers under 25 years old) 
  • Family members or friends supporting older people

Metro-Melbourne region, Victoria

EARS telephone support is available to any of the following people in the Metro-Melbourne region:
 
  • People living with a disability
  • Older people
  • All carers (including carers under 25 years old)
  • Family members or friends supporting people living with a disability or older people

All medical emergencies should be made to 000.

Get the support you need outside of regular business hours

We understand that life doesn’t stop after 5 pm so you don’t need to wait until tomorrow. You can get free after-hours telephone support:
 
  • 5 pm – 9 am on weekdays
  • 24 hours a day on weekends
  • 24 hours a day on public holidays

Please note, if you are receiving support from an existing community service, you may be directed back to your main service provider.
