annecto’s AGM and Showcase captures the heart of what we do

The 2016 Annual General Meeting and Showcase was held in Melbourne at the Arts Centre on Friday 21 October 2016.

Channel Nine News presenter, Peter Hitchener again hosted the annual Awards and Showcase with author, speaker, ambassador and fundraiser, Cheryl Koenig presenting.

Cheryl is a passionate public speaker, author of four books, volunteer, fundraiser, ambassador, mother of two sons and a wife to her husband for more than 30 years.

She is a tireless fundraiser, passionate advocate for carers, an ambassador for The Australia Day Program, Brain Injury Australia and The Friendship Foundation.

The annecto annual Showcase is gaining a reputation for being an event featuring powerful stories of people from communities across Australia.

Here are the winners of the 2016
annecto Awards:

Craig Goesch Scholarship
Winner: Mallee Sports Assembly

Awarded for their passion and commitment to drive real change for people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). The organisation has a specially designed woodwork class held in Mildura for people who have acquired brain injuries. The class helps people to develop a sense of purpose, socialise with other participants and form long standing friendships.

Winner: Justin Nix – Equitable Access Solutions

He spends a great deal of time linking people to one another to improve housing outcomes and accessibility for people with disabilities.

Ron Cahill Award
Winner: Joanne LaRocca

A Workforce Coordinator with annecto, Joanne goes above and beyond and recently raised funds for, and organised a “disco for all” to be held at the Yarraville Club.
