Culture and Diversity

We respect and value all aspects of a person including: gender identity or expression, race, language ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, elder status, clan, family structure, culture, subculture, self-expression, identity, self-identification.

As a community based organisation working through the lens of humanity and authenticity, the annecto diversity strategy places real emphasis on self-assessment and ensures as an organisation, we embed practices to cultivate inclusion and we support and participate in positive change toward broader social inclusion.

Absolutely Everybody is the brand we align to the annecto diversity strategy.  We continue to seek collaboration, initiatives and projects which celebrate diversity and give voice to everyone.

Culture and Language

The range of nationalities and languages spoken across annecto's broad client base is a celebration of many cultures and beliefs.  annecto continue to provide translations and interpreters for most languages spoken and represent as many of the most commonly spoken languages in our regular publications. We are constantly reviewing the currency of languages.  We participate in expo's and days of note celebrating the diverse groups we work with everyday.

NAIDOC Week and Coloured Diggers March

annecto support and participate in celebrations and days of note, recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities and developing new initiatives and forums through partnerships with Kinchela Boys Aboriginal Corporation and Babana Mens Aboriginal Group.

Absolutely Everybody Radio Show on JOY 94.9

annecto sponsored and produced a weekly radio show on LGBTI radio station JOY 94.9  This social venture developed a team of presenters to host discussion on a broad range of issues. Content of the show focussed on bringing together a range of topics, not always discussed in the mainstream, about issues experienced by a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. The show and podcasts are a celebration of people, achievements and stories of what we have in common.

 A different way home

annecto recognised the opportunity to support a community theatre production with themes exploring ageing, families, attitudes and the challenges of being a carer.  As part of the Chapel off Chapel season, a unique opportunity to open a forum of discussion on the issues depicted in the play and how people view these challenges.
