annecto David House Community Hub

providing a road map to an inclusive community

Many people regardless of ability want to be able to contribute meaningfully in the community, to make informed choices in their life, to enjoy and experience being in communally shared places such as workplaces, restaurants, sporting facilities  and educational institutions, to be respected and to feel a sense of belonging. To help ensure these connections will be made for all people in the local community;  the annecto David House Community Hub is focusing on creating diverse partnerships in the local community with a view to assisting people to find work, to encourage volunteering, for learning and to meet with others, and for the Hub to be a place to go to for information.

How will we do this?

We think it’s vitally important that people who are largely unrepresented in their community can have the opportunity to create a better environment for their dreams.  annecto believes that people in  local communities can identify those issues considered most important and take the steps  to address them.  The process focuses on public participation resulting in lively, genuine communities.

This involves:

  1. Researching people, the culture/history and the local community/ partnerships
  2. Getting together to listen, talk, understand and agree on things that matter
  3. Identifying and gathering the connections to ensure the individual / community/ partnerships remains healthy and sustainable
  4. Making it happen

The Community Hub is a public space that is: community-driven, visionary, adaptable, inclusive, flexible, culturally aware, inspiring, collaborative and sociable.

Developing a successful community hub space entails more than a good design: it also requires that the community starts conversations about what they want in their local community and what they want to do.

Call us to start the conversations- we look forward to connecting with you at annecto David House Community Hub- to improve the lives of all people in Yarraville.
